JOE HART had received a boot to the head just minutes into the game at Tannadice on Sunday.

After an examination from the medical team and a long stoppage for the head to stop bleeding and receive the medical attention, the keeper changed his kit and rightly or wrongly carried on and finished the match.

Steven Fletcher received a yellow card for the challenge.

Hart wasn’t really tested today in the Celtic goals; however, the injury came after a stunning save from the keeper saw him leap fearlessly for the ball. Thanks to his antics, Celtic didn’t go behind, and the game stayed at 0-0.

With it being a nasty gash, many fans didn’t want to take the risk and sub on Ben Siegrist, who was warming up on the touchline. The Swiss goalkeeper is yet to make a competitive appearance for the Hoops, and if he were called into action on Sunday, he’d have faced his former club on his competitive debut.

Head injuries in sport have to be taken very seriously and there have been calls for a head injury temporary sub to properly examine players who do receive head trauma.

Hopefully Joe is fine in the next few days and he heals up.
