Celtic are reportedly set to turn their attentions to former Manchester City and England number 1, Joe Hart should they fail to lure Fraser Forster back to Parkhead.

It is widely known how popular Forster is at Celtic, especially with Neil Lennon, who is desperate to secure his services for at least another year on loan.

However, Southampton manager Ralph Hassenhuttl is likely to be looking to assess Forster in pre-season, due to a number of errors from their keepers, most recently Alex McCarthy’s glorious mistake against Arsenal.

If it was the case that Forster would be staying with the Saints, according to the Telegraph, Neil Lennon would then turn his attention to another England international keeper in Joe Hart.

Hart has recently been released by Burnley and is looking to revitalise his career, after several poor spells at different clubs and not being able to lock down that position at any of them.

If we were unable to pick up Forster again, this may be a good move for the club. Over the years he may have made a few mistakes but there isn’t much doubt that Joe Hart is a decent keeper

The finances would make sense as well, with the club not having to pay anything in the way of a fee and Hart is beginning the latter stages of his career, so he will be looking at playing time over wages if a club like Celtic were to come calling.

Lennon will be pushing himself and the club as much as possible to pick up Forster again, but if he couldn’t this looks to be a sensible move, with worse options out there.
