Celtic keeper Joe Hart has insisted that the Hoops can’t always be perfect but will always try to stick to their principles and play football the way the manager demands.

The Hoops booked their place in the final of the Viaplay Cup for the second season in a row under Ange Postecoglou after they defeated Kilmarnock 2-0 at the national stadium.

They shall return to league duty this midweek as they take on St Mirren at Celtic Park who remain the only side to have beaten the Scottish champions in the league this season.

Celtic still currently sit nine points clear at the summit of the Premiership table and will want to continue their winnings as Hart warns that they will not be complacent and remain focus no matter who the opposition is.

One thing about Postecoglou is that his team certainly doesn’t lack a certain style which the team are continually trying to improve at. They have belief in his workings and want to continue to evolve.

The playing conditions at Hampden on Saturday were horrendous but Celtic still continued to try and produce the football which has gained them success so far.

“We believe that, no matter what moment in the game, no matter what opposition, whether that be St Mirren or away in the Bernabeu, we have proven that we are going to play our way,” said Hart as quoted by the Daily Record.

“We believe in it. It can’t be perfect. That’s impossible. But we’re doing our best to play at the highest level we can at all times. We believe that’s going to be enough.”

The result in Paisley remains disappointing as many couldn’t have predicted the outcome of the match but Hart revealed the squads fixated attitude which didn’t allow them to become distracted by the defeat and bounce back quickly after the international break which followed.

“Honestly, we are not a complacent group. This football team is not complacent. We didn’t lose that game because we were complacent.

“We lost because St Mirren deserved to beat us on the day. The approach to that game will be no different to this one. We are going to go and try to win it and play the best football we can.

“But a lot has happened since then. We take care of every game as it comes. The strong encouragement here is not to live in the past.

“If we’re going to concentrate on the past, there is a lot more good than bad. But we don’t rest on our laurels. Every single one of our squad is ready to go. We’re looking forward to Wednesday.”
