Ex-Hoops midfielder John Collins made the on-air revelation he would like to be considered for the new Director of Football role at the club saying ‘it would be of interest’ to him.

As reported by BBC Sport, speaking on BBC Radio Scotland, Collins expressed his interest in the job when asked, as he believes he has the right skill set for the role which the club are currently in the process of recruiting.

“I believe I’ve got the skill set,” Collins told BBC Radio Scotland.

“Of course it would be of interest to me.

“Celtic’s played a big part of my life but I know there’s a lot of experienced people in for the job,” Collins said on Sportsound.”

Over the years Collins has had several different roles at Celtic, from player to assistant manager under Ronny Deila during his tenure as manager, also working alongside current interim boss John Kennedy

As well as that, he does have experience in the role of Director of Football having had a spell in that job whilst at Livingston.

The club is currently at a crucial stage in terms of the on-going rebuild which is set to come, going into the summer. The next appointment of Director of Football will be crucial in how Celtic as a whole moves forward.

Whether that is John Collins or another candidate out there, we must get the right man for the job and soon as they do, they have some big decisions to make when they step into the Football Club.
