John Guidetti has been given the green light to start his Celtic career after receiving the all clear from FIFA.

It was reported that Celtic, Man City and the player had signed the necessary items in time for the deadline but it turned out the player was still registered at Stoke City from his loan there last season. Celtic then had to contact Man City who had to contact Stoke and by the time the new paper work came back it was after the deadline.

The SPFL and UEFA both recognised the transfer but permission from FIFA had to be sought in order for the transfer to be legit, permission that has now been granted.

John Guidetti has failed to break into the Man City squad since he signed with the club as a youngster in 2008 but has been sent out on loan. His most successful loan period was at Feynoord where the striker scored 20 goals in 23 appearances for the Dutch outfit. A great return for the striker even though he got injured in the latter part of that season.

He comes to Celtic on loan with a point to prove with many fans excited about the prospect of seeing John in action.

It is yet to be confirmed if he can be registered for Europe, given the time of this announcement it would be unlikely that he has made the Europa League squad. Although Celtic could possibly appeal to UEFA.

Welcome to Celtic John Guidetti.
