Former Celtic hero John Hartson has reacted to the Hoops’ thrilling 3-3 draw with Rangers at Ibrox this afternoon, admitting that winger Yang should have done better for Rabbi Matondo’s late leveller.

The Hoops went a goal ahead within the opening 30 seconds thanks to Daizen Maeda and they were soon 2-0 up through Matt O’Riley.

The hosts eventually drew themselves level and although Adam Idah immediately responded, Matondo struck late on to make it 3-3.

Winger Yang, who replaced Nicolas Kuhn with 25 minutes to go, was back defending in the dying embers. He was trying to stop Matondo who seemed to beat him, and resultantly, cut inside, easily.

Hartson admitted after the game that the South Korean youngster should’ve shown his opposite number down the line and on the whole, Celtic passed up a great chance to take an advantage in the title race.

He said: [X] “Opportunity missed by Celtic. Yang has to show Matondo onto his left foot.

“[It] could have been more. Rangers [were] much better 2nd half. [They] pushed Celtic back. At the end it looked like the home supporters were ecstatic with a point.”

Given the way events unfolded at Ibrox, Celtic fans will understandably be slightly disappointed by the result.

The Hoops, however, still hold control over their title destiny, which can be viewed as a significant positive.
