We have been asking the club for weeks to clarify information surrounding Karamoko Dembele’s Celtic contract .

The official website had him signed up until the end of the 2021 season back when the winger signed his first professional deal.

However, John Kennedy has confirmed on Wednesday night the youngster has another year left on his Celtic deal!

Speaking after Celtic’s 4-0 win against St Johnstone, Kennedy praised Karamoko for grabbing his first senior goal for the club and set the record straight about the player’s contract.

“There is a lot of speculation in terms of Karamoko being out of contract in the summer,” said the interim manager.” Kennedy told the Scotsman.

“I don’t know where that has come from because he has another year left. He is a young player and every young player has a different pathway. Karamoko has been spoken about as the next superstar, but people develop physically at different rates.

“He is probably one who still has a bit of development, but is a terrific talent — we know that. It’s not a token gesture, he has done well in training recently.”

That means a new manager will have some time to work with Karamoko and maybe get him playing.

The flip side of things, if Karamoko doesn’t want to sign a new deal, the club could cash in on him this summer.

It would be unfortunate if we didn’t get to see the lad in full flight.

At least there’s a chance he’ll be part of the squad next season.
