JOHN KENNEDY has shrugged off silly comments about Celtic’s title after the media ran another attack over the past few days.

It certainly seems like ANYBODY who wants to shout Celtic’s title is somehow diminished will be given the spotlight and a microphone.

John Kennedy was asked about the latest round of nonsense being regurgitated in the media and the Celtic coach wasn’t rising to it.

“Ultimately, the ones who come out and say that kind of thing are Rangers-minded or are the opposition.” Kennedy told SunSport.

“The most important thing for us is we know what we’ve achieved is very legitimate. It’s very worthy.

“I know how much work and effort goes into this.

“Had the shoe been on the other foot, would Gareth McAuley be saying there’s an asterisk against Rangers’ title if they had been leading? Certainly not.

“The people who say this are the people you expect to say it.

“The season was cut short amid unprecedented circumstances. Nobody could do anything about it.

“But we were going to win the title regardless. It’s one we’ll savour. It’s part of our history now.

“Regardless of what anyone else thinks, there certainly won’t be an asterisk beside our title. It’s 100 per cent deserved.”

Celtic celebrated their ninth consecutive title win earlier this month. The bhoys missing out on the chance to celebrate with the support and finish the league off in style.

There was no wrongdoing by Celtic in any of this. Celtic are champions because they are the best team in the country and were thirteen points clear at the top of the table. That’s hard for some people to stomach. It’s convenient to forget your own club’s failings and blame whatever else to make yourselves feel a little bit better.
