Celtic assistant manager John Kennedy stood in for Ange Postecoglou in press duties on Friday afternoon.

The Scot was quizzed on several topics including Man City’s Champions League semi final victory over Real Madrid a few days prior.

The Hoops faced the Spanish giants earlier in the season, putting in a performance at Parkhead many would’ve been proud of.

It was Real’s opponents from midweek, though, who Kennedy drew comparisons to Celtic.

Full of praise for the English champions and Champions League finalists, Kennedy said (Glasgow Times):

“They are a terrific team. From a coaching perspective they are very inspiring. I think everyone looking at them can see the level of performances they are putting in. But again, they have taken time to get to that level. They are playing in a different league to us at a different level.

“But in terms of getting to that point, Pep Guardiola has had to spend time with that squad to get them to the point where they look a very special team. Certainly, Ange will do his own version of that here.”

If Celtic were to even reach the levels of a powerhouse such as Man City it would be beyond anyone’s wildest dreams.

Pep Guardiola’s men are a cut above and terms of the process he’s had to go through to get City to the level they are, it is a similar one to that of Postecoglou’s at Celtic.
