ANGE POSTECOGLOU will allow John Kennedy to decide his own future and won’t stand in his way if he decides to leave the club.

The Hoops assistant manager is in the running for the Midtjylland job and is high up the Dane’s shortlist.

There’s been no reported contact yet, but if the side is serious in their John Kennedy chase, it will come in the next few days.

When asked if Postecoglou wants to keep Kennedy at Celtic, he admitted the situation is out of his hands, and the former Celtic defender will make a decision for himself. The Celtic boss recognises the situation is out of his hands and will respect Kennedy’s decision.

As quoted by The Sun, Ange Postecoglou addressed the situation, saying;

“I don’t think that way.

“It’s like the players and staff, if they do well there may be other opportunities for them. It’s not down to me, their futures are in their own hands. At the moment John is a key contributor and he’s really happy with what he’s doing.

“But what the future holds for him, or anyone else for that matter, is up to him.

“He’s no different to anyone else at this football club.

“If people identify him as someone who can help their organisation, it’s up to the individuals to make those decisions.

“It wouldn’t surprise me if there’s interest in John.

“He’s a Celtic man through and through but having had an unfortunate end to his playing career he’s made a concerted effort to get as many skills and experiences as possible.

“He’s worked in the academy and the first team in various roles. He’s worked under some fantastic managers, present company excluded obviously! Should he want to move to the next phase of being a manager — and you’d have to ask him that — then he’d be an outstanding candidate.

“But he’s a really important part of our set-up here. He’s a valuable asset.

“He leads many of the footballing areas for me and he’s done a fantastic job.”

Big Loss For Celtic

Ange Postecoglou has commonly stated that his backroom staff are top-class. Without the men supporting him, he wouldn’t be able to do his job.

John Kennedy leaving would be a massive blow for Celtic, but he has his own aspirations. A top job at Celtic doesn’t come along often, so he may choose to get some experience before managing the Hoops.

  1. Extremely unlikely J K will get off the pig`s back and strike out on his own.He has been on there too long and is much too comfortable to move. Love to be proved wrong though.
