John Kennedy has been linked with a move to Danish side FC Midtjylland to take over the role as manager.

The former Celtic defender has worked under four different Celtic managers and has a wealth of experience with a very impressive honours list.

FC Midtjylland are on the hunt for a new boss after Bo Henriksen was relieved of his duties with the side finishing second in the Danish Superliga last season.

One of the candidates being considered for the position is Celtic number two John Kennedy who is reported to be “very interested” in the position according to BT podcast Transfer Window.

Kennedy was first promoted to a first team role under Ronny Deila before being retained under Brendan Rodgers with the coach being said to have had a big influence on the team during the period of success which followed.

After Rodgers exit, Kennedy was appointed as assistant to Neil Lennon with the 38-year old remaining in place after the arrival of Ange Postecoglou.

He is well quoted by all of those managers and has a good reputation in the football world as a first class coach.

Kennedy has been previously linked away with moves elsewhere but may well be tempted to go it alone in Denmark with the chance of winning titles and competing in European football.

Celtic is however Kennedy’s team and he may fancy a crack at the Champions League alongside Ange Postecoglou.

At the age of 38, there is still a long time left in Kennedy’s coaching career and this proposal may have just come too soon.
