Contrary to reports on Tuesday morning, there has been no official talks between Sunderland and John Park about the vacant Director of Football job at the Stadium of Light.

Park’s name has come back into the frame for Celtic since the return of Neil Lennon to the Parkhead dugout in February but it remains a mystery where the former Celtic scout will end up.

The Sunderland Echo writes: “Sunderland are understood NOT to have held talks with former Celtic recruitment boss John Park.

“The Black Cats hierarchy are aware of Park but are not on the brink of appointing him.”

Yesterday, Celtic seemingly had missed the boat on a John Park return but it would appear the club would still be able to make their move IF they wanted to bring John back.

Right now, after Lee Congerton’s reign of terror, Celtic fans want a safe pair of hands and are remembering the hits like Wanyama, van Dijk and Fraser Forster.

No mention of the Bangura’s, Amido Balde’s and Efraín Juárez’ of the world.

He certainly can find a gem and Celtic need this more than ever going forward. If Park does return, it would likely be under a Neil Lennon regime.
