Linked with Celtic in the summer and reported by Football Insider, Jordon Ibe is apparently an option for Celtic this January deadline day.

Ibe is surplus to requirements at Bournemouth and is in the final six months of his deal with the Premier League club.

Bought by Bournemouth in 2016 for a whopping £16m (TransferMarkt) the player now has a big decision to make and according to The Athletic, Celtic and Crystal Palace are interested.

“Both clubs are considering moves for Jordon Ibe at AFC Bournemouth, who has entered the final six months of his contract, has no future at the club and is effectively available for a relatively small fee. Ibe is a south Londoner and would be keen to move to Palace, but it is far from certain yet that a deal will be agreed. It is understood Celtic would only be offering a six-month deal at first.” Dominic Fifield wrote on the Athletic.

Celtic weren’t in the market for a winger but the player could offer real competition to James Forrest and play on the left hand side where Celtic are struggling with injuries.

Verdict

Celtic’s reported interest could just stem from the summer link. Crystal Palace being interested means there’s a club who are probably in a position to offer the winger more money and the opportunity to move to London, where Jordon is originally from.

It would be surprising to see the player head north in the coming hours but you never know. At 24, the lad will want to play football.
