Reports this evening suggest Celtic are going to make a January play for Sheffield Wednesday striker Jordan Rhodes.

There have been whispers about a move and SunSport claim the club are now looking to land the player on an initial loan deal with a view to buy in the summer.

Rhodes, 29, has been linked with Celtic several times throughout his career. After his promising start, the player has fell away over the seasons.

The striker has made seven appearances for Wednesday this season scoring three.

While it might be a good stop gap signing and provide a proper back up for Eddie – the player turns 30 in February and wouldn’t be the answer going forward.

Short term, he could do a job much like Oli Burke did last season.

Celtic have to look more to the future. Like Neil Lennon said this week, the club are weighing up their options and Jordan might just be one option in a long line of moves the club are looking at for January.

  1. If its not one Jordan its another. Prefer Henkes son though. I know Xmas is a time for giving, the papers usually are seeing Elvis in the directors box at Ipox. And like The King we know both are dead to us.
