Jose Cifuentes is in demand this summer with the Ecuadorian very keen to come to Europe to play football.

The defensive midfielder has been on Celtic’s radar but Premier League champions Manchester City have also been in the hunt for the 20-year-old.

Cifuentes only has a contract that runs until November and he’s looking to make the jump from South America.

According to the Scotsman, Celtic have the edge in landing the player this summer because of the work permit issues not being as stringent in Scotland meaning the Scottish Champions could bring the midfielder in and get him registered.

Manchester City would likely have to sign Cifuentes and loan him out to another club, something they regularly do nowadays. If Celtic managed to the land the talented midfielder it could be seen as a coup for the Scottish champions.

A strong and powerful defensive midfielder with bags of potential to develop and sell on for a profit down the line.
