ANGE POSTECOGLOU has provided an update on Jota and Cameron Carter-Vickers. The pair joined on loan at Celtic on deadline day, and both loans have an option-to-buy installed in the contracts.

Fans were crying out for the business to be completed in January. However, we will have to wait a little longer to welcome them if Celtic are to strike a deal.

Speaking to the Scotsman, Postecoglou stated;

“If I say we’re closer, it’s as if something’s happened. Those discussions will be taking place over the course of the next period. Michael [Nicholson] is at the forefront of that with the players themselves. It will take care of itself.

“Experiences like Wednesday will help but we all live in a romanticised version of life. But it usually comes down to what drives the individual. These things are great but then finances come into it, other factors can influence the decision.

“I’m not going to try and convince anyone to stay. If you don’t understand how special it is to be a part of this place, nothing I’m going to say will change that.

“I know Cam and Jota love representing this football club and what it’s all about. They’re contributing right now and that’s all I need to see.”

Ultimately, if Celtic decides to match the fee agreed with their parent clubs in the summer, it is down to the player to determine their future.

Both players are in different situations. If he decides to return to Spurs, Carter-Vickers will most likely be sent on another loan spell. If he opts to return to Benfica, Jota will have the chance to play for his boyhood club and earn a multi-million-pound move.

From a Celtic’s fans perspective, it is hard to comprehend not staying in Glasgow. We can offer Champions League football in front of the best fans in the world, and Postecoglou’s attacking style is delightful to play under.

Negotiations are ongoing; let’s hope an agreement is reached to permanently bring both players to Glasgow.
