Celtic winger Jota has delighted fans with a new post on Instagram as he continues his recovery from a long-term knee injury and introduced his followers to a new four-legged friend in the process.
The Portuguese star, who has been sidelined since undergoing cruciate ligament surgery against Dundee United last season, shared a series of photos featuring himself and his dog with the caption:
“Ladies and gentlemen, Mr. Cowboy. 🤠”
Fans were quick to flood the comments with messages of support, thrilled to see Jota looking upbeat as he continues his rehab.
The 26-year-old’s initial return timeframe was around January, but it will still take several months for him to get back to full match sharpness after such a serious setback.
Speaking earlier this season, when he was Celtic boss, Brendan Rodgers said:
“Yes, he’s coming along really well. I think we obviously sent him back to assess his fitness here and be with his family.
“And yes, the progress has come along really well.
“I think the first 12 weeks of that injury, it’s important that you get to a point where you can, in the nine to 12 weeks, that you’re able to straighten it.
“So he can do that. He was in the gym. So yes, he’s coming along well. Long, long way to go. But it’s good to see him.”
Jota has been a massive miss for Celtic this season, with his flair, creativity, and knack for producing big moments on the left wing sorely missed.
Hopefully, it won’t be too long before supporters see him back dazzling defences and leaving fans on the edge of their seats once again.
He’ll be playing under a new manager, his third since joining the Hoops the first time round. Who that manager will be remains to be seen.
