Celtic fell to a 3-0 defeat to Real Madrid on Tuesday evening — but not before the bhoys gave the European Champions a couple of scares.

Celtic put in a top performance first half before succumbing to Real Madrid’s incisive and clinical football,

Many fans went into the game thinking Celtic would find it a struggle to compete at all with the current best side in the world. However, the bhoys did hold their own and were unlucky not to get the opening goal.

Despite Real Madrid racking up the goals in the second half, the Celtic fans stuck with the team and were very vocal right to the end.

Jota felt compelled to mention the support he reformed as he was substituted off late on. The Portuguese winger got a standing ovation and as the full time whistle neared, the entire stadium was signing Ange Postecoglou’s name.

Speaking to Herald Scotland Jota had these very nice words to say about the Celtic support. “This speaks a lot about what Celtic is, the culture of Celtic and the history that they have,

“We are just grateful to have this support from everyone, and the one thing we can promise them is that we will work hard every day to try to deliver them results.

“It was definitely something unbelievable to play in this stadium with this atmosphere and this crowd in the Champions League.

“So, we just want to make our supporters happy, and we promise that every time we go out onto the pitch we are going to give everything for the shirt.”

Jota has been a revelation so far this season. After impressing on his loan deal with the club — Ange Postecoglou snapped up the winger in a permanent basis. In Jota we have an outstanding football player and a very humble person.

His goal and celebration during the first Glasgow Derby of the season will be iconic.

We can’t wait to see what Jota and this team do next.
