JOTA has returned to Benfica to receive treatment for the hamstring injury he sustained against Hearts. [Sunday Times via BBC]

The injury ruled the Portuguese winger out of the Glasgow Derby, which was supposed to take place on the 2nd of January. The game has been pushed back a month to hopefully facilitate supporters being allowed in for the vital SPFL tie.

After Jorge Jesus was sacked, Jota’s former youth coach has been appointed as interim manager. No doubt that Nelson Verissimo will be expressing how well the loanee has performed this season.

Celtic are interested in taking up the option to make the loan a permanent deal. The 22-year-old winger has been unstoppable at times this season standing out in a good Celtic side.

The reported fee for Jota is in the region of £6/7 million with different outlets reporting different figures.

For a player of Jota’s quality, the fee is a bargain. If Celtic does manage to sign him it will be a question of how long they can keep the skillful Portuguese winger in Glasgow.
