Celtic look to be closing in on a deal to sign Jota on a permanent deal with reports in Portugal claiming the deal is just about done and the winger is happy to stay at Celtic.

The reports from printed media in Portugal claim it would be a massive turnaround if Jota didn’t sign for Celtic now – cited by Sports Witness.

If this goes through, it will be a massive shot in the arm to Celtic fans as they look to the club to make serious moves to help our Champions League push next season.

Jota has been sensational for Celtic since coming in on loan at the end of last year’s summer transfer window. Celtic astutely agreed a first option deal with Benfica – had they not – it would have cost the Bhoys a lot more money to land such a talented player.

There was a fear Jota would be told by Benfica bosses he had a chance of playing in the first team in Portugal. Given Jota is a Benfica fan, it could have tempted him to stay and play with his boyhood heroes.

Right now, all signs point to a Celtic deal. Fingers crossed we get official news about it soon.

The player is currently on holiday in Ibiza with some of his Celtic teammates after helping to secure the league title earlier this month
