It’s been almost a week since Scott Burns Celtic ‘exclusive’ — the journalist claiming The Hoops were days rather than weeks away from signing loan bhoy Jota to a permanent deal.
Burns wrote in his Record exclusive:
“Celtic expect to make the signing of Portuguese wing king Jota permanent this week.
“The 23-year-old star’s representatives are due to hold a final round of talks that should seal his £6.5million move from Benfica.”
As we approach seven days since the the report, we’re wondering what the hold up has been if Celtic expected to have the deal done last week.
Celtic fans are desperate to find out news on Jota and what’s next for the Portuguese star. The hope is the winger is ready to commit his immediate future to Celtic but until we get word — nobody is going to feel at ease despite the confidence from Burns on his exclusive.
Deals can drag on for whatever reason — we’re also not ruling out the club waiting to get their ducks in a row with regards to social media content. Being the summer, there are plenty at the club who will be taking this time to get away before the beginning of pre-season at the end of June.
The dream scenario would be the Hoops waiting until they have both CCV and Jota signed before dropping the double signing but that’s just wishful thinking on our part!
