THROUGHOUT the first half in Perth, Celtic were dominant and played some really nice football. In all honesty, they should have been a couple more goals to the good, but took in a 1-0 lead at the break.

At half time, Postecoglou took off Jota and replaced him with Maeda, a change which surprised many. It’s unusual to see Ange make a substitution at half time, especially when there doesn’t seem to be a need for it.

Thankfully, injury didn’t see Jota taken off after just 45 minutes. Postecoglou revealed that the player was fatigued and it was agreed that he wouldn’t play a lot of the match. The manager then eased fans’ concerns further, assuring them there is no cause for concern with the player.

Jota was a bit of fatigue, the plan wasn’t to play him for too long as he’s played a lot of football but there’s no concern there.” Ange told Sky Sports live.

Maeda didn’t have the desired impact, yet to net his first goal of the season. Although, the forward will argue he should have had one against St Johnstone, when the linesman controversially raised his flag to deny the Japanese player and Celtic a goal.
