Portuguese winger Jota is a real fans favourite at Celtic and his commitment to the club goes beyond the work he puts in before a game at Lennoxtown.

The 23-year-old made the switch to Glasgow permanent last summer after he left his boyhood side Benfica but like many at Parkhead is only expected to get better. Jota has had yet another impressive campaign at the league leaders having scored nine goals and contributed eight assists in 30 matches.

He is working underneath a first class coach in Ange Postecoglou and his love for the game appears to be rubbing off on the players after superstar DJ Ewan McVicar revealed what he seen on a visit to Jota’s home.

Although the talented winger is blessed with great footballing ability, he wanted to further enhance his talents and invited McVicar to show him how to use decks properly.

The Scottish DJ came to prominence in 2021 when he released his dance version of 1970s track ‘Tell Me Something Good’ which rose to 15th in the UK charts.

He was left stunned after spending some time in the company of the Portuguese star having been introduced by a mutual friend as he revealed that Jota’s commitment to the cause at Celtic extends into his home.

Speaking to Youtube show [Reilly’s Gaff] McVicar said, “We’ve both got the same accountant, right?”

“And the accountant goes ‘Jota has asked me to ask you if you can teach him how to DJ, or what he needs?’ Because he’s just in his house, I was like ‘sound.’

“I went round to his house – unbelievable.

“I goes in and he’s got a big massive whiteboard, there’s no white on the whiteboard, just tactics everywhere. He’s so organised.

“He’s the loveliest guy ever.

“I sat down and he’s got a wee notepad. I’ve never seen anyone who wants to learn music go this far into it, that’s obviously what he’s like when he’s passionate about something.

“He likes tunes. He likes dance music and he’s like ‘what do I need to get started?’

“He’s went and bought the full set-up. He’s got a full set of decks.”
