According to Keith Jackson, Celtic could be set to promote a current staff member behind the scenes at the club as part of the restructure.

The RecordSport writer claims with all that’s going to be on Dominic McKay’s plate, he wouldn’t be surprised if the current head of legal, Michael Nicholson was promoted to general manager.

Jackson believes it’s because Celtic are now looking to have certain people for specific roles because in the end Peter Lawwell was the one stop shop for everything and that’s the culture they want to get away from.

“Dominic McKay will do his best to slip into that void, not just to keep the club stable but also to begin moving it forward again but if he’s as smart as he appears to be then the man from Murrayfield won’t make the mistake of taking on too much of Lawwell’s mantle.”

“He’ll have enough on his plate just getting his head around this madhouse he’s about to call home. Put it this way, long gone are the days when a crisis would constitute the French scoring a last minute drop kick causing someone in the main stand to drop his Stilton.

“To that end it might come as no surprise if Michael Nicholson – who is currently in charge of the club’s legal affairs – is promoted to a more overarching position, perhaps as general manager.”

It’s what seen Brendan Rodgers up sticks and leave, it’s also why Neil Lennon left the first time. Peter micromanaged just about everything at the club.

McKay’s range won’t be as far reaching and it will be a team effort to get everything done.

Given Lawwell’s salary, it’s safe to say we are able to have this new setup and not be out of pocket when the current CEO leaves.

Right now, it appears we’re still no closer to naming a manager and it’s something Celtic must get on with in the mean time. McKay starts his job next Monday, will there be an announcement before then?

  1. I can sum this up if you have to drag Eddie Howe or any manager to take the Celtic job then we can be looking at a long time being second,we need a top name so let us not go cheap on our next manager he is going set us up for the next 10 years so this one must be a good fit for Celtic and he must be given £30 million plus sale money from players that are moving out now and the money from players he moves on,The Scotland Boss i like if not then it must be Enzo Maresca come on Celtic name the manager..
