Celtic’s manager hunt keeps taking new turns, and the latest one points straight at Paul Tisdale’s influence behind the scenes.

With Wilfried Nancy still in the mix, fans have been trying to work out why he’s so firmly on the club’s radar.

Journalist Keith Jackson spoke about the connection that runs through Kwame Ampadu, Nancy’s assistant at Columbus and someone who worked under Tisdale at Exeter. It’s the kind of detail that explains who is quietly shaping parts of this search.

It shows this process isn’t just about CVs. Celtic’s football department has its own relationships and trusted voices, and Tisdale seems to be one of the key figures involved. Jackson’s view is that his role might be smaller than people realise.

But, as always at Celtic, one person sits above all of it. Jackson hinted that no matter who brings names to the table, the final say still lies elsewhere.

He said: (HOTLINE Live), “I think Paul Tisdale’s fingerprints are on it. The link with his assistant (Kwame) Ampadu.

“He worked with him when Tisdale was manager at Exeter. Ampadu was with the under-18s.

“So you feel as if Paul Tisdale is probably the link that makes the numbers join up a bit, or the dots join up.

“I’m not sure, because when there was a bit of back-channelling going on with Craig Bellamy and his camp, they were led to believe Paul Tisdale was fronting this. Front and centre.

“He was leading the charge. He was going to be given the power, the mandate, to go and find a new guy.

“But I strongly suspect, and I think Bellamy’s camp began to suspect, that Dermot Desmond will ultimately appoint himself as the kingmaker.”

Jackson’s view helps join the dots. If Tisdale is the one pushing Nancy, then the Columbus link suddenly feels a lot more logical. It also explains why Nancy’s name keeps popping up, even while plenty of other candidates are being mentioned.

But the real punch comes in Jackson’s final point. Celtic might be trying to modernise how they operate, but when big decisions land, Desmond usually has the final say.

That dynamic is shaping this whole search as much as anything happening on the football side.

In the end, picking the next manager won’t just be about tactics or style. It’ll come down to whose voice matters most around the table. And right now, it feels less like a smooth process and more like different influences pulling in different directions.

  1. Celtic record has been good with appointmeant of managers is the board members thats hurts a one person has always been at the troubles no matter as chairman or chief executive he is Desmond Dermit man and it he has to leave board level to give our chief executive the respect of others in the club for as long as he is there people outside the club and some board members will think Lawell still has the say

  2. Dermot Desmond owns Celtic. It’s his ball. He’s no different to the more Media Prominent Owners of Football Clubs. They are boss. They decide. The only difference is DD does not own the majority of shares he is also a NED! It’s his company and the Yes Men of the “operating” Board of Directors do as they are told by him. Desmond makes all the big decisions, that was leaked by Michael Nicolson. Celtic is Grace Brothers but is a lucrative gig for the Yes Men and recipients of the Jobs for the Bhoys and for Dermot Desmond who receives over £200,000 in dividends in Perpetuity. Kerching!
