PETER O’ROURKE believes that Ange Postecoglou will be keen to extend Rogic’s Celtic stay, with his contract set to expire next summer.

The Australian has played a massive role in Postecoglou’s side so far, starting most games under Celtic’s new manager. Currently, the Aussie midfielder is keeping Matt O’Riley out of the starting eleven, despite his starring display. This demonstrates how highly Postecoglou thinks of Rogic.

There have been a number of contract extensions this season, with Callum Mcgregor, Greg Taylor, Tony Ralston and Scott Bain all penning new deals. Talking to Give Me Sport, O’Rourke believes that the boss will be keen to add Rogic’s name to that list, saying;

“He’s [Rogic] been a big factor in their success and trying to win the title this year. If Postecoglou has got anything to do with it, he’ll be pushing Celtic to ensure they keep hold of Tom Rogic.”

Postecoglou has admitted that opening talks over a new deal with the Australian were the “last thing on his mind”, saying in February; [SunSport]

“No, it’s the last thing on my mind, mate.

“We want people here who are happy to be here and want to be a part of it.

“Unless someone knocks on my door and says they want to go I’ll just let it roll.”

Postecoglou will be keen to extend Rogic’s stay, but the midfielder has felt homesick in the past. He will reassess his situation before making a decision.
