Freelance journalist Phil Mac divides opinion among the support but it’s worth noting his latest blog has direct implications of what’s going on at Celtic Park and the hurdles currently in place to hiring a high calibre manager.

Phil writes in his blog, Celtic have been told by a ‘highly regard manager’ that he wouldn’t be interested in the role in its current form. Why? Because of the unofficial director of football currently at the helm – Peter Lawwell.

Phil reveals:

“I am aware of a highly regarded manager who recently, via his representatives, let it be known the club’s current structure was unprofessional and unacceptable”

“By that, the prospective manager (I know his identity) stated that he wasn’t willing to work with a CEO who was effectively the unofficial, and crucially, unqualified director of football.”

Even without reports like this, it’s clear Celtic’s structure needs to be changed. A good friend of mine who carried out work for the club over the years let it be known, you can’t change a light bulb at Celtic Park without the go ahead from Peter Lawwell.

CEO’s have a shelf life and Peter is long overdue to move on. It’s time for a bee direction, set up and start to make Celtic a club who aspires to mane in-roads in Europe while not settling for just doing enough domestically to get by. As we’ve witnessed this season, look what happens when you implement that latter strategy.

  1. Problem with Phil is he has all the hear say but little in the way of evidence. Some of his past posts the safety of Ibrox and it been shut down then all the stuff about there money problems and them been on the brink. Also what about the recent three premiership managers Celtic were talking too but Lennon is still here. To be taken with a pinch of salt.
