JOZO SIMUNOVIC has picked up another long-term injury.

The defender, who left Celtic after his contract expired in 2020, will now undergo surgery on his knee, as reported by The Sun.

The 27-year-old recently signed for HNK Gorica after being without a club for 18 months. Now, just three games into his next step in his career, he will be sidelined again.

However, the operation is described as ‘minor’ and he will be back playing hopefully a month or so.

After signing in 2015 from Dynamo Zagreb, the defender performed well and was close to completing a move to Torino a year later but he failed the medical.

The defender could be clumsy at times but he will always be remembered for one outstanding moment. Just after the passing of Billy McNeill, while wearing the number 5 on his back, he scored in the 67th minute.

He will of course be remembered for the crunching tackle on Kenny Miller as well!
