In a statement, Bournemouth said Araujo had undergone successful surgery and wished him well as he starts his recovery.
The Mexico international also shared an update on Instagram after the procedure.

Araujo wrote that the surgery was another important step in his recovery and thanked surgeon Dr Lasse Lempainen and everyone involved in his care.
He also thanked supporters for their prayers and messages, adding that the hard work begins now before ending with the message: “God will give me victory.”
The update comes as Araujo continues to be linked with a return to Celtic this summer.
The right-back impressed during his loan spell at Parkhead last season before returning to Bournemouth at the end of the campaign.
Recent reports have suggested Celtic could revisit a move for the 24-year-old if Alistair Johnston leaves before the transfer window closes.
Araujo’s injury is another factor that could influence any potential transfer.
The defender now faces a spell on the sidelines, making the timing of any move away from Bournemouth more complicated while he focuses on his recovery.
