Celtic summer signing Josip Juranovic received his first piece of silverware after the League Cup victory last weekend and is already on the hunt for more as he made the squads intentions for this season clear.
The 26-year old played in multiple different positions at Hampden Park, with Postecoglou changing things later in the game. But, the full-back came away from the match delighted, picking up his first winner’s medal as a Celtic player.
Speaking to the club official website, Juranovic spoke of the joy of winning the trophy and his first for the club. However, he remained insistent that the focus must now turn to the next few games in the squads push for more success this season.
“We’ve achieved our goal to take the trophy back home, and now we’re looking forward to the next games.
“When I came here, everyone was saying how big a club Celtic is, and that’s something I knew before, but when you win the first trophy here after three months, you know you’re in a special club.”
He added: “When I was going on the pitch, I saw a boy with my flag, so after the last whistle, I asked if I could borrow it and then afterwards, I gave him my jersey.
“The atmosphere is really good in and around the team, and I also want to say thanks to the fans because they were amazing from the first minute.
“I was 60 minutes at right-back, then left-back, then right-wing, but for me, it’s not a problem because I will always help the team.
“From the first minute, you could see that we had possession and opportunities that we didn’t score.
“But in our heads, we had a winning mentality and, of course, Kyogo was here to score the goals.”
There is a real growing team spirit within this group of players, and this is evident with the likes of Juranovic being willing to play across the park for the sake of the team.
It also bodes well that the squad are instantly looking for more of that success going forward.
Fingers crossed, come the end of the season, we can look at yesterday’s cup final victory as a kick-starting point for the campaign ahead.
