Celtic signed Josip Juranovic a year ago from Legia Warsaw for a small fee of £2.5 million. He took the league by storm, becoming a vital player for Ange Postecoglou.
The Croatian had become the target of some English sides and Athletico Madrid, with transfer guru Fabrizio Romano claiming he was expected to leave Celtic this summer.
Josip Juranovic had seemingly said that he ‘hoped’ Athletico Madrid was interested in the player, hinting if there was an offer on the table, he’d be on the first flight over to Spain.
However, Josip looks to have been misrepresented. In fact, he made it clear he was preparing to play in the Champions League with Celtic next season. As quoted by Spanish outlet Mundo Deportivo, the right-back said;
“I know there were some stories, but honestly I didn’t even ask my representative anything about it. I didn’t care, and I have to keep my feet on the ground, although after all, it was Atlético de Madrid. Of course, I’m already in a great club, Celtic.
“I finally have the opportunity to play the Champions League here. I just think about listening to the atmosphere, that anthem and playing on that stage.”
Juranovic to Stay at Celtic
It’s come from the man himself; he’s looking forward to next season playing in the green and white hoops of Celtic.
It seems that the Scottish Media has used a dodgy translation and jumped the gun, creating a story based on a lie.
