CHRIS SUTTON has told Celtic fans the jury is still out Celtic striker Vakoun Bayo with there still being a big worry or gap if Odsonne Edouard was to get injured.

The Englishman had high praise for the team after the Cluj result and continued to praise the Frenchman after initially giving Eddy a lot of stick this season.

The former Celtic frontman believes the problem lies in his backup with Leigh Griffiths still struggling for fitness and not being completely sold on Vakoun Bayo.

It’s a bit unfair because Bayo hasn’t played that much but when he has played he’s scored or made things happen. Writing in his Record Column the BT Sports commentator suggested a long term injury to Eddy could be damaging.

“It’s not all perfect. Edouard’s link-up play to go with his goal was sublime but with Leigh Griffiths out of the picture and the jury still out on Vakoun Bayo, you’d fear if the Frenchman got an injury.

“But so long as he stays sound, the rest of the team is looking very strong and very assured.”

Celtic sit top of their Europa League group after two games. If they can continue to box clever in their group then European football after Christmas is certainly on the horizon.

It’s Lazio home and away for the bhoys yet and maybe Vakoun will get some game time in those ties after being suspended for the visit of Cluj.
