Some Celtic fans are feeling uneasy this morning after a major announcement from Spurs.

The London club have sacked Jose Mourinho after 17-months in the job and will now have a caretaker in place until the end of the season.

Given Spurs have a dog in the fight with the new European super league, the manager’s job becomes even more attractive for some bosses.

Some Hoops fans are speculating an Eddie Howe appointment for Spurs might be on the table and Celtic’s lack of action could have cost us.

It was only back on Thursday when MailSport chief journo Stephen Mc Gowan spoke about the two sides being relaxed about the deal.

Speaking on Superscore board, McGowan Said:

“THE TWO SIDES SEEM MORE RELAXED ABOUT IT THAN THE FANS ARE. HE MET DERMOT DESMOND TWO WEEKS AGO IN LONDON, THERE WAS AN EXPECTATION THINGS MIGHT MOVE QUICKLY BECAUSE HE’S OUT OF WORK BUT THAT HASN’T HAPPENED, BUT THERE MIGHT BE REASONS FOR THAT.

“HE’LL WANT FAIRLY PRECISE DETAILS ON HOW MUCH MONEY HE HAS TO SPEND, BECAUSE OF ALL THESE PLAYERS POTENTIALLY GOING OUT THE DOOR. HOW MUCH DOES HE HAVE TO SIGN 10 OR 11 PLAYERS?

“I THINK A NON-NEGOTIABLE POINT SEEMS TO BE BOURNEMOUTH TECHNICAL DIRECTOR RICHARD HUGHES COMING ALONG AS WELL. I DON’T KNOW HE’S GOING TO BE DIRECTOR OF FOOTBALL OR TECHNICAL DIRECTOR, I THINK HE’S GOING TO HEAD UP THE PLAYER SCOUTING OPERATION, MAYBE A REPLACEMENT FOR NICKY HAMMOND.

“EDDIE HOWE WOULDN’T BE APPOINTING HIS OWN BOSS, HE JUST WANTS SOMEONE HE CAN TRUST BY HIS SIDE. I DON’T KNOW HE’S KEEN ON THE IDEA OF CELTIC BRINGING IN A DIRECTOR OF FOOTBALL HE DOESN’T KNOW IN FERGAL HARKIN TO WORK ABOVE HIS HEAD.”

It’s not doing much to quell the anxiety among supporters who want to see this Celtic team kick on next season. Neil Lennon has been gone since the end of February. We currently sit nearing the end of April with no new manager or set up publicly implemented.

Surely the club must know the feeling out there and if they have their man, why aren’t they getting the deal done?

Celtic have four dead rubbers left in the SPFL before the curtain comes down on their season.

It’s time to take control.

  1. ‘The Special Ed one’ won’t be coming to Paradise (unless Celtic play his latest team) As he has a habit of spending plenty of millions, on players and then blames them for not understanding his ‘hit them on the break or fall down and act injured’ tactics. He also would want plenty of Millions whether he is a success or not. Get him in on a “Pay as you win’ clause.
