JUVENTUS CHIEF Andrea Agnelli has name checked Celtic when he spoke about reform in the Champions League which would see clubs like ourselves out-with the perceived top five leagues get a better shot at being in the top competition.

Agnelli is fighting for radical change within the system which is not sitting well with a lot of the clubs in the top five leagues who don’t want to see their competition places diminished in any sort of way.

Speaking at the Leaders Sports Business Summit in London, the Juventus Chief brought up the teams like Celtic and Ajax having a Euro safety net in some manner in the future.

“It’s right that if you perform in the international system, you stay in the international system.” Agnelli stated as reported by RecordSport.

“It would be great for clubs like Ajax, Celtic, (Legia) Warsaw knowing they can stay in Europe and not have to qualify via domestic system.”

Peter Lawwell is working closely with a number of big European hitters to make sure Celtic and Scottish football are not left behind in any reform. Celtic being specifically name checked will have pleased Peter Lawwell and shows his influence on proceedings thus far.
