Celtic boss Ange Postecoglou has delivered an update on the injury recovery of Hoops youngster Karamoko Dembele.

The talented 18-year old has had a frustrating six months under the new Celtic manager, picking up a nasty injury in a pre-season fixture against Bristol City, which ruled the winger out for several months.

But the academy graduate recently made a return to first-team training after a couple of setbacks, which led fans to discuss the possibility of a return to action.

However, as quoted by the Scottish Herald, Postecoglou hinted towards looking to build Dembele’s fitness up with the clubs B team in the Lowland League as he edges closer to getting back to playing competitive football.

“He’s been training well. He’s been out for quite a long time. We might get him some game time in the B team to start with. We’ll see how he’s tracking.

“He’s training at the moment and getting close to being available.”

It is easy to forget that Dembele is still a young footballer, given how early the hype started around the England u18s internationalist.

This season was seen as a possible opportunity for him to make that breakthrough into the side under Postecoglou. But, he has found himself incredibly unlucky after being on the end of a dreadful challenge in a friendly fixture.

The youngster’s contract at Parkhead is also set to come to an end this summer, so some work will need to be done to sort out that situation, or we could see him depart on a free in just a few months.

Hopefully, it is a situation which can be resolve, especially after such a disappointing/frustrating start to life under Postecoglou for Dembele.

Tommy McIntyre’s B team will now provide him with a good opportunity to build up his fitness in the hope of some first-team game time towards the back end of the campaign.
