The Celtic huddle podcast hosted by Mark Wilson has claimed an exclusive that Karamoko Dembele is set to leave the club in the summer.

The Celtic youngster has been coming through the ranks since he was 12, but since making his first-team debut two years ago he has failed to make any proper in-roads.

With the player not getting any first team game time and his development being stunted by lack of competitive games in the Celtic reserves, it looks inevitable he’ll continue his career elsewhere. His contract is up at the end of June.

Now the blame is not on just the manager and the club for Dembele leaving without making his mark in the first team. They clearly don’t think the young player has the necessary attributes to be a first-team star at the moment.

Mark Wilson said: “He’s out of contract in the summer

“Dembele is set to leave and will move abroad with a number of clubs interested, Lille and Nantes among them”

We need to remember this lad is only 17 and has so much more developing to do. Celtic have lost so many youth star’s to other academies because of the lack of a proper pathway to the first team. We need to be a club who promote youngsters and make it a destination for young, talented players to come in and make a name for themselves.

Editor for the Scottish Sun, Derek McGregor, confirms Celtic have offered the player a new deal:” He has been offered a contract but it’s been on the table for some time,

“His family and Karamoko can turn round and say he’s not had the opportunity here.

“There has been a couple of games recently, with the pressure off, you could have given him a run out.

“If not now, then when is it going to be?

“Perhaps it’s led his family to believe, he’s got to get out of Celtic and get an opportunity”
