Kasper Dolberg has been told he can find a new club after Ajax left him out of their pre-season planning.

The Danish striker, 28, was on Celtic’s transfer radar last summer before he moved to the Dutch giants from Anderlecht for close to £8million.

That was after the Hoops spent too long deliberating on the fee they would be willing to spend on their next striker.

Dolberg would be confirmed with the Dutch giants but he would only go on to make 22 appearances for the club and chip in with a measly three strikes. Ajax feel their frontman has run his course with the club and are now willing to allow him to leave following the disappointing campaign.

The player did not feature at all for the club in their first pre-season clash against Greek giants Panathinaikos and it was revealed by Ajax that he will not travel to the area of the Netherlands where the club will face AEK Larnaca at vv Hulshorst on Saturday.

It may well be too late for Dolberg where Celtic are concerned but his value may have dropped significantly following his second stint with the four-time Champions League winners.

Martin O’Neill is on the lookout for a registered striker even if Qarabag forward Camilo Duran is poised to join the Hoops on a three-year deal for around £5.5m.

Tomas Cvancara left the east end of Glasgow at the conclusion of his loan while Junior Adamu was confirmed at new club Schalke last week.

Daizen Maeda may depart this summer with Premier League clubs down south circling and that would leave more gaps in the Celtic squad in an attacking sense.

It could point to Celtic returning to the table with Dolberg and his representation as the £8m fee spent by Ajax would not be necessary to land him this year.
