Kasper Hogh has thanked the Celtic support after making his first appearance for the club in Monday’s 1-0 Premiership win over Dundee.
The 25-year-old was handed a start by Martin O’Neill as the Hoops opened their 2026/27 league campaign with three points at Celtic Park.
Callum McGregor unfurled the Premiership flag before kick-off and the champions got off to a winning start thanks to Benjamin Nygren’s second-half header. The Swede converted Kieran Tierney’s excellent cross in the 52nd minute.
While Hogh’s debut did not end with a goal, there were encouraging signs from the striker.
He found space in dangerous areas throughout the afternoon and looked willing to make runs beyond the Dundee defence. The chances came, but the finishing touch just wasn’t there.
His closest effort after the break drifted narrowly wide, summing up a frustrating evening in front of goal. Even so, the Dane never went hiding and continued to make himself available until he was replaced.
After the final whistle, Hogh admitted with a smile that he would need a bit of shooting practice. He also pointed to the adjustment of playing on grass again after spending time on artificial pitches in Norway.
The new Celtic striker has now taken to Instagram to thank the support after making his debut. He wrote:

“What an amazing atmosphere and incredible fans. I’m grateful to have got my first minutes on the pitch and with a victory. I’ll keep pushing and putting in the hard work.

It is an encouraging mindset from a player who never looked short of confidence despite failing to get off the mark.
For a striker arriving with the weight of a club record transfer fee, there will inevitably be scrutiny whenever chances are missed. Hogh’s reaction suggested he is prepared for that pressure rather than intimidated by it.
There is little time to dwell on a missed opportunity, either.
Celtic are back in action this Sunday when they travel to Rugby Park to face Kilmarnock, where Hogh is in line to make his first away appearance for the club. After a lively but goalless debut, he will be hoping the first goal is not far away.
