Kasper Schmeichel has made it clear that his move to Celtic is not a prelude to retirement but a pursuit fueled by his relentless desire to win.

The experienced goalkeeper, who signed a one-year deal with Celtic, opened up on his commitment to continue competing at a high level, driven by the prospect of adding more honours to his already illustrious career.

Dismissing any notions of a retirement tour, Schmeichel is focused on replicating the kind of success he enjoyed at Leicester City, where he won both the Premier League and an FA Cup—the latter under the management of Brendan Rodgers, who he reunites with at Celtic. His move to Scotland is inspired by the same ambitions that guided his career in England—securing trophies and celebrating collective triumphs.

Reflecting on his motivations, Schmeichel expressed the profound impact that winning has had on him and is hungry for more:

“Winning. It’s the only thing that motivates me,” he told Celtic TV.

“I’ve had some incredible experiences in my life in terms of winning things. And there is nothing that gets up in the morning more than the thought of having those days.

“Those days when as a team you’re together, you’ve won something and you’ve accomplished something together. And you get to share that with your teammates, with your family, with the fans. Those days are few and far between in the football world but they last forever in the memories. That’s what drives me every day.”
