In a decisive move, Celtic have closed a deal for former Leicester City goalkeeper Kasper Schmeichel and with people wondering what that would look like it has been reported by Scott Burns from Record Sport that it will be a 12 month deal. This signing, which brings a seasoned Premier League and FA Cup winner to Celtic Park, will see the Danish star be Celtic’s last point of defence in the unforgiving Champions League.
Kasper, at 37, comes with a wealth of experience that is expected to fortify Celtic’s defensive line. Having played a pivotal role in Leicester’s historic Premier League win and their FA Cup triumph, Schmeichel’s pedigree is unquestionable.

The 12-month duration of Schmeichel’s contract is a clear indication of Celtic’s short-term tactical focus. While the move might raise questions about the club’s long-term planning, it also signals a pragmatic approach to addressing immediate needs. Schmeichel’s presence is expected to provide stability and leadership at the back.
Brendan Rodgers’ familiarity with Schmeichel from their time together at Leicester City likely played a significant role in this acquisition. Rodgers’ trust in Schmeichel’s capabilities is evident, and he will be relying on the veteran goalkeeper to deliver consistent performances.
The Dane’s arrival is likely to be welcomed by a squad that will be missing the big personality of Joe Hart.
Kasper appears to be one of the two players Brendan was talking about who he hoped would be in before the team flies out to on Tuesday to their American pre-season camp.
I can totally understand kasper wanting to join ourselves, and potentially wanting to follow in Joe Hart footsteps, in wanting to end his career on such a high, similar to Hart again imo?
I can even understand why Rodgers would look to bringing him into the club also?
Again similar to Hart, it would be a proven keeper, with quality and experience, with the added bonus of working with kasper before and having a huge trust factor within him also?
Yet, I don’t understand what our potential transfer strategy could be?
Fail to see, how a kasper and Bain combination as potentially our keeper positions resolved for next season?
Even more so, when it could be regarded as leaving ourselves, maybe in the same position as we found ourselves this summer?
Also couldn’t regard ourselves as actually strengthening and getting more competitive for starting positions within our squad either?
However, if kasper is still only the first of two incoming keepers, then would class it as a good bit of business for ourselves imo?
So currently, possibly more questions than answers remaining in our keeper positions within our squad for next season at present still imo?
perhaps we see one of our young keepers taking the position? Will be interesting to see who heads out on loan this summer
