Celtic secured a vital point against Club Brugge at Celtic Park, with the Belgian champions taking the lead in the first half.

Kasper Schmeichel showed his experience in bringing the team together after Cameron Carter-Vickers’ own goal, where a miscommunication led to Carter-Vickers putting the ball into the net while Schmeichel was vacating the goal.

The Dane brought the whole team together to discuss not only what went wrong in the buildup to the goal, but also what had been going wrong in the game before that, with Brugge in the ascendancy.

Schmeichel showed what a leader he is by slowing the game down when others might have wanted to restart as quickly as possible.

It gave the Hoops the opportunity to communicate and address where things were going wrong in the first half.

It was a moment that showcased his leadership. While players are often described as leaders, this moment highlighted how vocal Schmeichel is.

With his experience as a goalkeeper, now in the twilight of his career and having seen it all, he knows how to handle situations like an own goal.

Instead of letting it affect the team, he took control to avoid further mistakes and pushed the game in Celtic’s favour.

This moment can be seen as the turning point when the Hoops began to take control and turn the game around.

  1. Shouldn’t have needed Schmeichel to do that.
A natural captain would have taken on that responsibility.
Mid was poor tonight, Hatate & Engels off it again while Calmac (& Greg Taylor) seem to have forgotten how to make a forward pass.
Looked a lot better once Valle & Bernardo came on

  2. Wrong team choice tonight, players should have been rested against the jam tarts for tonight’s game. What happened to rotation? Bernado, Valle should have started as for Hatate he was so far off the entire game as he was on Saturday should have been replaced by McGowan
