JOHN KENNEDY absolutely nailed it when he spoke about the inconsistencies in punishments between the rest of the league and the newly crowned champions when it comes to strict COVID rules.

It speaks to the media in this country that they merely reported Steven Gerrard actually claimed his players and one in particulate shouldn’t be punished so harshly because he’s a talented kid.

If we were living in any other reality which wasn’t the toxic fishbowl of Glasgow, the absurdity of that statement would have been highlighted by any reporter worth their wage.

Asked about the situation and the sheer brass neck of the club across town challenging the punishment for the players who attended a party, Kennedy was clear:

“Steven’s got his reasons to do that and say it but our players are talented.” Kennedy told CelticTV.

“We paid money for them and have high hopes for them.

“Look at the Bolingoli situation. Yes, he broke the law and he was harshly punished for it and rightly so.

“We’re not defending that but it was a massive setback in terms of his career at Celtic.

“That’s the punishment for stepping out of one.

“You can’t do it. We were then running behind and we had to fit those matches in somewhere else while losing a player who had been important to us.

“It wasn’t a good situation and there was a lot of pressure on us because of it as we were then paying catch up.

“We can’t use that as an excuse because Bolingoli put us in that position and we had to deal with it and move on.

“But we need to make sure that there is consistency across the board.

“It was made very clear to our players that these are the situations that you can’t get involved in.

“One, because you’ll be punished for it, but it also brings extra pressure and scrutiny on the club. These players have been caught breaking the law themselves.

“Regardless of how talented or valuable the player may be, there comes a punishment when you step out of line. We’ve been dealt with harshly in the past and had to accept that.

“This is only my opinion and I’m not just saying this because it’s Rangers.

“Aberdeen were dealt with in the same manner as ourselves when their players were involved in their situation.

“Our players are talented. They’ve been punished. It’s the same difference.

“It should be very clear in terms of how you deal with situations like this.

“Regardless of the player – how talented, how valuable he is – there comes a punishment when you step out of line in these situations.

“We’ve been dealt with harshly in the past and had to accept it and we have to wait and see what comes Rangers’ way.”

Boli Bolingoli and Celtic were dragged through the mud while the SFA continue to dither on the sort of nonsense from across the city.

Gerrard asking for a leaner sentence on his covidiots because they’re talented is the sort of stuff his fanbase eat up. We hope he’s just pandering to the crowd and he isn’t that thick he believes it.
