Celtic’s left-back position is still enduring the void of Kieran Tierney’s exit back in the summer of 2019. Despite buying new full-backs in recent transfer windows, it is still an area of weakness within the Celtic team.

Celtic have been interested in Dutch left-back Kenneth Paal, in the hope he can strengthen the area of defence. The 24-year-old’s contract is set to expire in the under 12 months, so Celtic have the power to bargain with his current club PEC Zwolle.

Speaking with Destentor.nl the player had this to say about Celtic;

“It’s such a big club, with such a history, that’s always nice to hear.”

However, he does admit that Scotland isn’t where his interest lies, instead, he would like to play in the Championship, saying its a ‘great competition’;

“I’ve always said that (I would want to move to England). That’s where I get the most out of my game.

The Championship, the second tier in England, is a great competition. I would like to experience that one day.

I’m sure a lot of Premier League clubs would have a hard time there. That’s a really nice competition. I would like to experience that.”

Paal has been the subject of a £650,000 bid from the Championship side Barnsley. [Mail Online]

It is hard for Celtic fans to see players rather play in the second tier of English football rather than test themselves in Europe with one of Scotland’s top two.

  1. If he is looking move to better himself then he is better coming to Celtic. He will also get noticed more and have more opportunities to win stuff. Plus he would be playing in Europe. Is he going to get any of these things in the EFL
