Kenny Dalglish has told Celtic fans he can’t see a side capable of beating them this season after Neil Lennon’s men swaggered out of Ibrox with a 2-0 victory and all three points.
The Celtic legend is obviously going to tip the bhoys but the former Celt claims he believes the club could have another invincible season.
“Indeed, I’m struggling to see a side out there that will beat them this season.” Dalglish told the Sunday Post.
“And I include Rangers in that.
“They remain the biggest threat to Celtic but they still have an awful lot of work to do.
“They have improved under Steven Gerrard and will continue to do so. But they are still behind their great rivals on the other side of Glasgow.
“Steven has had to make massive changes in the past 15 months and it’s always going to take time for everything to come together.
“As a manager you just hope that the new boys gel and get to grips, mentally, with the pressure of being at a big club.
“That’s something that can never be taken for granted.”
Celtic have had a strong start to the season and it’s been very good to see but nobody at the club will be even entertaining any talk about that sort of feat being reached again. It happened three seasons ago under Brendan Rodgers during his first year at the club.
The club won the first of their trebles by going unbeaten all season – a truly sensational achievement.
Celtic look dominant domestically but it’s important not to get carried away. It was only three weeks ago the Celtic fans were on a downer after the Cluj game. After the win at Ibrox, we have a happy fanbase. It can turn on a dime and the support and players will know the work that lies ahead in order to give defending their three trophies their best shot.
