Former Celtic left-back Kieran Tierney has returned to full Arsenal first-team training ahead of the January transfer window.

The Scotland international has been on the sidelines since he suffered a disastrous hamstring injury in Scotland’s Euro 2024 clash with Switzerland in June.

Since then, speculation about a potential return to Celtic and reunion with Brendan Rodgers for the 27-year-old has been widespread.

Kieran Tierney

Graeme Bailey from TBR Football reported last month that Tierney informed Arsenal he wants to return to his boyhood club in January. It followed a report in The Sunday Post, which put the Gunners’ asking price for the defender at £10m.

Rumours of a possible Parkhead return for Tierney were sent into overdrive during the last international break when he was spotted mingling with Rodgers at a Celtic event in London.

The Hoops academy graduate has since returned to full training with Arsenal. He was recently pictured back out on the pitch:

What is most surprising about the photo is that Tierney is wearing long sleeves and tracksuit bottoms.

Like Scott Brown, during his time at Celtic and even Arsenal, the Scot was renowned for wearing shorts and a T-shirt regardless of the conditions. Perhaps Tierney has mellowed as he’s matured.

It remains to be seen whether a dream reunion with the Bhoys will ever come to fruition for the full-back. One certain thing, though, is that speculation and rumours surrounding it won’t die until he finds a new club.

  1. KT and arsenal will be looking for at least a lone move for him come January.
Of course we are going to be linked with such a move, even moreso with the amount of uncertainty surrounding our LB position at present?
Still think that the longer this contract situation has dragged on, regarding Taylor, the more likely it is that it won’t be getting resolved imo?
With increasing rumours surrounding valle possibly returning to Barcelona, then potentially leaves Rodgers in a situation regarding a position, where longer term plans, still aren’t in position for ourselves?
So potentially it won’t be until the summer until the longer term plans for the LB position are addressed?
So obviously KT would be a stopgap solution for the remainder of this season, especially as Rodgers has already shown plenty of signs of not putting to much attention into players, who might be having there mindsets elsewhere?
At least Taylor and valle have continued to show there commitment towards our club, and wouldn’t ever question KT either, if he was added for the remainder of this season?
Even if January shouldn’t resolve the longer term outlook for the LB position, still wouldn’t have any issues regarding the approach taken for the remainder of this season, and KT could add to that, in terms of squad depth that could be available to ourselves?

  2. I think we got the best from him before he was transfered still injured ” he is on if true ,80 thousand pounds a week and still has year left from that contract so he can sit that out for year and sign for any club after contract is spent no one is going to take a massive cut in wages does not matter how much he loves Celtic to much money to lose.

  3. Heart of a whale, legs of a grasshopper. Don’t need anymore. Good luck tae Keyring, on his travels. Should have a pop in and do the half-term draw.
