It was a first for Kieran Tierney this evening as the left back played his first ever professional game of football without wearing the Celtic crest.

Signed for his bhoyhood heroes when he was seven, all the player ever knew was Celtic until last month when he signalled to the Celtic hierarchy he would like to move to England after interest in Arsenal became concrete.

Since then the player has been been recovering from an injury which plagued him all of last season with Celtic and building up his fitness ahead of his eventual debut which has come against Nottingham Forest in the League Cup.

The defender took his place in the line-up tonight – before he went out to train with the team ahead of the game, Kieran Tierney took a picture of his boots and specifically the back of them.

The text on his left boot read ‘Bhoys’ while his right boot read ‘bullfrog’.

Taking Celtic onto the pitch with him in his own way and supporting his local side the Bullfrogs who he regularly pays for kits.
