BRENDAN RODGERS has explained Kieran Tierney’s absence after the Celtic star sat out the Defeat to Hibernian on Sunday.

That’s two SPFL games in a row where the player has not been in the matchday squad as the Celtic manager tries to rotate his squad to avoid burnout.

Tierney played on Thursday night against Salzburg but did look uncomfortable at times.

With Celtic not fairing well at Hibernian as of late, it was very unfortunate that he along with some very important players did not make the trip.

Christie, Rogic and Tierney were all out injured, leaving the manager with no choice but to change things up and it didn’t go well.

Speaking about Kieran, the manager specified what is going on with his defender and why he was in the stands instead of the pitch.

“Kieran has had a hip issue which was feeling sore after the other night.” Rodgers Admitted to Celtic TV.

“Mikael picked up a knock and we’ll check on him for the midweek game,” he added.

The Celtic manager is desperate to see the January transfer window as well as the winter break so he can get his Bhoys in and get them fully relaxed and prepared for the second half of the campaign.
