The transfer window hasnt even opened yet but speculation surrounding Celtic is rife.
Former Celtic standout Kieran Tierney has reportedly had his asking price slashed to a surprising £10 million, according to The Sunday Post. This figure is significantly lower than the £25 million Arsenal paid Celtic five years ago.
While Celtic has not been officially linked with a move for their academy product, the dramatically reduced price tag could tempt them to consider a reunion, especially under the management of Brendan Rodgers who is keen on bolstering his squad with both quality and experience.
However, even at the reduced price, acquiring Tierney would set a new record transfer fee for Celtic, potentially surpassing their current record.
Tierney, who is set to represent Scotland in their Euro 2024 opener against Germany, found himself on loan at Real Sociedad last season, clocking up 26 appearances across all competitions. Despite his solid performance in Spain, he remains out of favour under Arsenal’s manager Mikel Arteta.
As the summer transfer window progresses, it will be interesting to see if Celtic or another club will make a move for Tierney. If Celtic play the waiting game, and Tierney is not at a new club when the end of the window approaches, Arsenal may low their asking price more in an attempt to move him on.
Could only really see ourselves possibly being in for a loan deal for Tierney imo?
Injuries and wage demands would be possibly to big of a risk to be looking for a permanent deal?
A loan deal could possibly suit ourselves with managing game time with Tierney also?
Only pure speculation as nothing is going to happen whatsoever until Scotland finish up at the euros.
Could be one to keep an eye upon, but wouldn’t say Tierney would be short upon offers for him, and from clubs with far bigger budgets available to them also imo?
