Kieran Tierney has not played a game for Celtic since the 2-1 defeat to Salzburg back in December. Since then the player has been out with a seemingly minor hip injury which Brendan Rodgers was confident the player would overcome BEFORE the winter break.

The left-back settled for a place on the bench at Ibrox but was not brought on due to substitutes being used for injuries on the day.

When the Celtic squad were in Dubai last week, Kieran flew out with the team but never trained with them; he was there receiving treatment from the physios.

Brendan Rodgers spoke last week about making sure Kieran was good to go for Celtic’s return to action but seemed less confident when he speculated the defender’s return before Christmas.

Now reports today suggest the defender is still struggling for fitness and will likely play o part in Celtic’s Scottish Cup tie or any of their up and coming home games as he battles to be fit for the Valencia tie.

With Tierney out, Celtic lost at Hibs and Ibrox with the manager changing the shape of his team because the defender was out. If Rodgers is not confident Izzy can hold down the fort for Celtic, then he may very well change the shape again.
