WATCHING Kieran Tierney for Scotland on Sunday night reminded me how much of a machine the bhoy is and what a miss he is to the Celtic backline.

Leaving two seasons ago to join Arsenal in a record breaking deal, the Celtic fans had not seen much of Tierney during the final season he was at the club. It’s easy to forget how good a player is when he’s out of sight, playing for his country in his favoured position was certainly a great reminder.

Scotland lost the game 1-0 to Slovakia but that was through no fault of Kieran’s – showing the same passion and drive we remember him giving at Celtic, even when things weren’t going our way.

Celtic got £25m for the left-back but we really hope the sell-on clause in his deal has been utilised to the full. Right now, Arsenal still looks like they’ve landed a bargain and while there is an invisible ceiling on what Celtic players will go for, it should certainly boost Celtic’s coffers when the time comes to move on from Arsenal.

HITC reported at the time, the player was going to London on a £75k per week deal and with a large sell-on clause. We can only hope that is the case. Celtic are never upfront about what clauses go into this deals.

SunSport report it’s a 15% sell-on clause, which would be substantial given you would expect of Kieran does move on it will be for a larger sum than Celtic sold him for.
